Precise motor speed and position control depends on encoder feedback. But motor applications place special demands on encoders: compact mounting, pole-pair matching, wide temperature range and vibration resistance. KOSEND offers G28 / G48 / DPS48 / SF35 / ZX39 motor encoder series — here is a quick selection guide.
1. Which Type Do You Need?
- Ultra-thin modular (G28 / G48): mounted on the motor rear end cover; ultra-thin for space-saving integration. G28 suits compact motors (10-4096 lines); G48 supports 1-32 pole-pair motors (10-40960 lines), 18-bit high-resolution ADC, dynamic compensation, 0.1° precision.
- All-in-one solid shaft (DPS48): connects to the motor shaft via a membrane coupling; ideal for standard solid-shaft servo installation, up to 5000ppr, straight/taper shaft.
- Magnetic sensing (SF35 / ZX39): SF35 is a magnetic single-turn absolute with one-key zero write and mount-error calibration — good for absolute position on power-up; ZX39 is incremental A/B for general speed/position feedback.
2. Four Key Selection Parameters
- Pole-pair matching: servo motors have 2/4/8+ pole pairs; the encoder must match (e.g. G48/SF35 support 1-32 pole pairs). Provide your motor pole count and we'll match it.
- Resolution: incremental types look at lines per revolution (10-4096 / 10-40960); absolute types at single-turn bits (SF35 0-4096). Choose for your positioning accuracy — no need to over-specify.
- Shaft type & mounting: modular (ring/disk + read head) suits motor-internal integration; solid shaft (DPS48 φ8/φ9) suits external connection. Confirm motor shaft diameter and mounting space.
- Interface & temperature: TTL line-driver, RS485, A/B, magnetic absolute etc. must match the drive; motors run hot — check operating temperature (G series -35~100℃, ZX39 -40~125℃).
3. Advice for Motor Builders & Maintenance
- New motor packages: provide motor model, pole pairs, shaft diameter and mounting holes — KOSEND proposes a matching solution with sample validation;
- Import replacement: G/DPS series align with mainstream options in parameters and interfaces — samples available for installation testing;
- After-sales & custom: custom cabling, interface and LOGO per system, 4-year warranty.
